My name is Glenn Miller. I started this blog in June of 2013 with the intention of writing about sports, movies, books and other things.
It’s evolved into more of the other things than sports, movies and books although I often write on those topics as well.
I accepted a buyout offer from The Fort Myers News-Press in April of 2012 after working there 25 years and have been working as a freelance writer ever since. I spent most of my newspaper career covering sports but also wrote about just about everything from theater to politics to veterans to the weather and hundreds of history stories.
I started my newspaper career at the now-defunct St. Petersburg Evening Independent in 1975 by covering a Boca Ciega High School football game. Don’t ask me who won.
March 2018 About update: Since starting this blog I’ve published a novel, “Grabmore.” I like to call it a comic crime caper. It’s set in a large newspaper chain and the narrator is a sportswriter. Gee, how did I come up with that concept? Anyhow, I’m also president of the Southwest Florida Historical Society and working this semester as a preceptor in the Florida Gulf Coast University journalism department. I continue freelancing for publications such as Florida Weekly, Times of the Islands and organizations such as Roy Hobbs Baseball, which holds its World Series in Fort Myers every fall.
